MAKUENI, Kenya, Jun 24 โ Lawyer Kethi Kilonzo has finally hit the campaign trail in a bid to succeed her father, the late Mutula Kilonzo as Senator for Makueni County.
Kethi was unveiled as the Wiper party candidate for the July 22 by-election on Monday afternoon by former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka.
CORD leaders led by Raila Odinga and Musyoka attended her inaugural meet-the-people tour soon after she secured the Wiper ticket.
She told voters in the area that she may be entering the nursery school of politics but she is a refined lawyer who can replicate her success in leadership.
Kethi momentarily backed out of the Senate race after her step mother Nduku indicated she would contest the seat, but Kilonzoโs widow hastily withdrew her bid.
