MACHAKOS, KENYA:ย Wiperย Democratic Movement party leaderย Kalonzo Musyokaย has told Coalition for Reforms and Democracy leaders not to let themselves be used by Jubilee government to weaken the devolution.

Kalonzo warned of schemes by their rivals to lureCORDรขย€ย™s Governors, Senators and MPs with aim of depriving the County Governmentsย powerย and independence.

The former Vice President said it would be suicidal if Kenyans deliberately or unknowingly allowed a few elements in the government to water down the gains of the 2010 constitution which brought about the devolution.

Speaking at Nyanyaa Primaryย Schoolย in Endui location, MwingiCentral District, Kalonzo singled out Governors as the prime targets urged them to stand firm and protect devolution from being drained.

Those accompanying him included members of parliament Joe Mutambu (Mwingi Central), Bernard Kitungi (Mwingi West), Mutua Muluvi (Kitui East), John Munuve (Mwingi North), Kitui County women representative Nyiva Mwendwa, County Assembly Speaker George Ndotto and host of MCAs. ร‚

รขย€ยœWe must be steady to ensure full implementation of the constitution. Our rival competitors are scheming to approachย CORDย Governors to dilute devolution at county levels,รขย€ย the former VP said.

However, he warned that any attempts to derail the devolution spirit stood rejected by Kenyans. He said the county governments were distinct and independent.
