The Coalition for Reforms and Democracy (Cord) has threatened to boycott future elections if the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) does not effect fundamental reforms.
Cord leader Raila Odinga on Sunday described the electoral agency as the “most corrupt and inefficient one in the history of Kenya” saying his coalition will pull out of future election presided over by IEBC.
โThis is the most corrupt and inefficient electoral commission in the history of this country and we will not participate in another General Election presided over by this agency if fundamental reforms and changes are not effected,โ Mr Odinga said.
โWe will withdraw our candidates from contesting because we either have competent elections or we donโt,โ added Mr Odinga.
In a scathing attack on the electoral agency, Mr Odinga accused IEBC of colluding with their opponents to scuttle his coalitionโs chances of winning elections.
He was referring to the on-going battle to win the Makueni senatorial seat in which the jubilee alliance if fighting to lock out Wiper Partyโs Kethi Kilonzo.
