Why is it important to have a valid passport?

Possession of a valid passport enables you to travel in and out of the country and is a valid form of identification.

The Embassy has stopped renewing 5-year passports. Anyone whose passport has expired should therefore apply for a new 10-year passport. This will take approximately 4-6 weeks to issue.

Please note for international travel, passports must be valid for six months or more.

Why is it important to register with the Embassy?

We encourage Kenyans in USA and Mexico to register with the Embassy in order to effectively and efficiently provide the following services:

• locating Kenyan nationals in cases of emergencies;
• relaying important information about developments in Kenya and the USA, as well as details that may be of importance through the Embassy mailing list; and
• arranging evacuation transportation in cases of natural disaster or civil unrest.
