Photos:Ruto’s mother accompanies Deputy President to The Hague

NAIROBI, KENYA; Ruto’s mother Sarah on Monday accompanied her son Deputy President William Ruto to The Hague for trials in charges linked to 2007-2008 post election violence.

Mr. Ruto who returned from The Hague last Thursday following a witness hitch compelling the prosecution to seek an adjournment was also accompanied by his wife Rachel Ruto.

The Deputy President was seen off at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by 12 Senators led by Professor Kithure Kindiki, several MPs led by House Majority leader Aden Duale.

Ruto has maintained that the crimes against humanity charges against him would be dropped for lack of evidence.

Since his return back to the country on Thursday last week the Deputy President has been busy with state duties.

On Friday, he travelled to Central Kenya where he opened the Central ASK show in Nyeri town.

Mr. Ruto was in Kiambu County on Saturday where he issued cheques worthy Kenya shillings 350million to 805 families of IDPs at Mawingo camp- Kieni.

On Sunday, the Deputy President, who was accompanied by 25 MPs, attended a church service at the Dominion chapel Ministries- Kiserian in Kajiado County was he was prayed for.

Mr. Ruto recited biblical verses from the book of 2chronicles chapter 20 that encourages one to “get out there and face your enemies,” to express he will to overcome the charges.

The Deputy President expressed confidence that God would see both him and President Uhuru Kenyatta through the current tribulations adding that the challenge facing them at ICC could be divine to embolden their resolve to unite the country.-standardmedia.co.ke
