NAIROBI, KENYA: Days after her much publicized fight with Gideon Mbuvi Sonko, Nairobi Women’s Representative Rachael Shebesh has allegedly been involved in another clash with her ally.
The showdown took place late Tuesday night at Parliament buildings. According to sources, the two had a spirited argument about Shebesh’s association with persons allied to the opposition.
Last week, the duo was involved in a brawl hours after checking into an exclusive suite at the hotel. After a heated exchange of words, the women’s leader is reported to have emerged from the establishment late at night with an arm injury.
Sonko downplayed the confrontation between him and Shebesh saying they had a small misunderstandingรข but termed it as personal.
That was a small issue that we solved. We did not report it at any police station because it was private and personal, he told The Standard in his office.
A senior manager at the hotel confirmed that the two had booked a prestigious business suite for a meeting before a confrontation ensued leading to both of them walking out.
Police at Kilimani said Sonko arrived at the station past midnight on Thursday but did not record any statement.
In early September, Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero allegedly slapped Shebesh in the presence of the media when she stormed his office flanked by striking Nairobi County workers. The workers had put down their tools to protest over pay.
The incident which enjoyed massive media coverage elicited varied responses with many womenรข’s organizations faulting the Nairobi governor for his outburst. In his defense, Kidero said that he responded violently only because he was touched inappropriately by Shebesh.
The Thursday clash was the subject of debate on a popular radio station and the discussion spilled over to social media. Social media users hurled barbs at Shebesh with many saying that her abrasive manner is to blame for the repeated assaultsรข.
