TIGHT SECURITY IN MIGORI AHEAD OF RUTO’S SUNDAY VISIT

MIGORI, KENYA:  Security has been beefed up in Migori town ahead of Deputy President, William Ruto’s visit on Sunday.

 Migori County Commissioner Ann Ng’etich said the area security officers will not take chances on security of  leaders who visit the county.

“Once bitten twice shy, Migori will never experience what happened last month when the president visited the county,” said Ms Ngetich.

Some rowdy youths had interrupted the event presided over by the Head of State in the county.

“We are expecting the Deputy President to arrive at 9am,” she confirmed.

Ruto will attend a mass before presiding over a funds drive in aid of St Joseph Ombo Catholic Church.

According to Ombo Parish Priest, Father Gregory Otenga, the church resolved to invite DP to assist them fulfill their dream which was started over four years ago.

“We appreciate the Deputy President for the good gesture; it has been our desire to have this church completed. It will offer us the best opportunity to continue with the worship and offering direction to the society,” said Fr Atenga.

DP Ruto will be accompanied by Migori elected leaders and other executive officials.

Last month, Migori County hit the media after a section of charged youths interrupted President Uhuru Kenyatta’s function at Migori Primary School grounds.

The president had visited to launch a Sh7billion worth mosquito net distribution campaign that was to cover 25 mosquito infested counties.
