The Nairobi government has denied media reports that youths who cheered Governor Evans Kidero during Homa Bay Senator Otieno Kajwang’s burial last Friday were hired.
In a statement yesterday, director of communication Walter Mong’are said Kidero’s reception showed his influence and stature are growing.
“The Nairobi governor can be termed the winner. There are reports that people had been ferried from as far as Nairobi to humiliate Kidero, who is seen to be a leading rebel in the ODM family. On the contrary, he received an overwhelming reception befitting a national hero, unlike all other politicians present,” Mong’are said.
He said Kidero came out as a seasoned politician who cannot be easily trampled over.
Mong’are said there are rumours that after the experience in Homa Bay, ODM leader Raila Odinga is figuring out the best way to deal with Kidero, who is working with the national government.
