NAIROBI, Kenya, Feb 13 – Police now say they have arrested three more suspects they believe were involved in the murder of Kabete Member of Parliament George Muchai, his two bodyguards and a driver.

Officers who have been trailing the suspects said they caught up with them at Area 87 within Kinoo in the outskirts of Nairobi where they have been hiding.

A senior police officer involved in the probe said they have recovered a G3 rifle used in the killings and a pistol stolen from one of the bodyguards who was armed at the time.

“It is a major breakthrough in the investigation because we now have the real people behind the kilings,” the officer said, “we also have the gun they used and the pistol they stole from one of the bodyguard.”

The pistol was found intact, with 15 rounds of ammunition.

The arrests brings to four the number of suspects in custody so far, after the one arrested on Wednesday was arraigned in court on Friday.
