ODM’s Elijah Memusi floors JAP’s Patrick Tutui

Kajiado, Kenya: ODM’s Elijah Memusi is Kajiado Central MP-elect after a closely contested race beating JAP’s Patrick Tutui by less than 1000 votes.

There was an 80 per cent turn out and 102 polling stations.

The by-election was marred with claims of electoral malpractices.

Three people were arrested over voter bribery claims after they were found with bundles of currency notes of up to Sh300,000.

The seat attracted three candidates; ODM’s Elijah Memusi, JAP’s Patrick Tutui and Mr Kuntai Nkashuma, an independent candidate.

Voters in the Kajiado Central Parliamentary by-election started trooping to the polling stations early Monday morning to elect the man who will replace Joseph Nkaissery after he resigned to serve as the Interior Security Cabinet Secretary.
