NAKURU: The 42 year old polygamous man who was on Saturday arrested for allegedly defiling his two daughters has been remanded by a Nakuru court until Thursday.
Samson Otieno, who denied two charges of defilement and indecent act committed to his daughters aged nine and seven will be remanded until Mach 26 when court will rule on his bond application.
Children’s court Senior Resident Magistrate Judicaster Nthuku said she needed time to examine the evidence of the complainants (the two sisters) before releasing him on bond.
“I need to examine the evidence of the complainants to establish the nature of the relationship between the accused and the complainants,” Nthuku said yesterday.
His Lawyer Olaly Cheche wanted him released on bond saying yet another tragedy has hit his family after his ten year old son belonging to the first wife living in Nairobi was knocked down by a vehicle and his body was lying at the Nairobi City Morgue.
Cheche pleaded with the court to release him on bond so as he can go and participate in his son’s funeral arrangements. The Court also ordered the prosecution to supply him with evidence they intend to use before the next mentioned date.
Prosecutor Samuel Kamau told court that the two children are still being hosted at Nairobi Womens’ Hospital in Nakuru where they were taken for treatment
Otieno stunned his neighbours at Blankets area in Nakuru after allegation that he defiled his daughters emerged with some saying he usually preaches in the area.
He was arrested on Saturday morning and detained at Teachersโ Police Post. One of the minors is said to have disclosed her father’s alleged acts in school after her teacher noticed she had difficulty walking and sitting.
Angela Agwaro, an officer at the Hospital’s Gender Violence Recovery Centre condemned the incident saying it adds to rising cases of child abuse and gender violence in the county mostly perpetrated by relatives.
