Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto to run for presidency
Governor Ruto, who was in Nakuru county for a political meeting, said that the electorate will decide between him and the Deputy President William Ruto on who will be the next Head of State come 2022.
“When you people said that Ruto will be President in 2022, I became very happy because we are two Rutos and it is only a matter of deciding which Ruto,” said the Bomet Governor.
Ruto – who served as the chairman of the Council of Governors for two terms – said that the power to decide on who the next President will be lies with the electorate.
He accused the Jubilee alliance – especially the Deputy President – of treating other parties with contempt.
The two Rutos have been at loggerheads over the leadership of Rift Valley.
Governor Ruto, Baringo Senator Gideon Moi and Kericho Governor Prof Paul Chepkwony have been leading one front while the Deputy President has been leading the other faction.
