Several MPs from Central are no longer at ease after they openly defied President Uhuru Kenyatta and rejected his nominee for the Secretary to the Cabinet position Monica Juma. Their opponents are now having a field day at the grassroots and have been going round telling the electorate the MPs humiliated the President and it is time for him to teach them a political lesson.

But when they met the journalists, all they did was to blame the Office of the Deputy President for their trouble.

A female police officer stationed on Ronald Ngala Street caused a scene on Monday morning as she forced a crew of a matatu belonging to ROG Sacco, plying route 23, to ‘oil’ her hands before she could let them go. The lady was not amused as she collected her loot, sometimes mishandling those who defied her orders. The bemused passengers could only watch the free-for-all drama.

It seems that it will require more than heavenly power to seal the dens of corruption at City Hall. While Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero has given instructions to his officers that they must collect revenue from rates and rent defaulters to improve services, it seems the officers are not in control as new City Hall cartels are calling the shorts. The cartels have diverted county revenue to their own pockets. The grabbing and leasing of public utility plots and school land has become a menace.
