A men’s lobby group wants women who chop off any man’s genitals to be sentenced to life imprisonment or death.
Maendeleo ya Wanaume chairman Nderitu Njoka said the group will soon table proposed Constitutional amendments on the matter to the National Assembly’s Justice and Legal Affairs Committee.
Reporting that 16 men’s private parts have been chopped off across the country this year, he urged the state to curb drug, alcohol and substance abuse, which he faulted.
Njoka urged President Uhuru Kenyatta, the First Lady Margaret and Nyeri Governor Nderitu Gachagua to speak out before rising cases of violence against men in the county get out of hand.
โIt is the high time the First Lady speaks out about these cases. I know many women will listen to her,” he said, adding that the county’s economy may be affected.
“The court should be very strict about those who are chopping off the transformers of our men. We have already drafted proposals of the amendments.”
He spoke during a press conference at White Rhino Hotel in Nyeri town on Thursday.
Njoka said he would ask the Kikuyu Council of Elders to clear the name of Nyeri women and disown “the few” involved in gender-based violence.
โI want to make it clear that Nyeri has many beautiful and wonderful ladies. In fact one of my wives hails from Nyeri since I have many. The name of Nyeri women should not be tainted,’ he said.
Njoka said action must be taken against men and women recently arrested over domestic violence in the county.
Two women were arrested for allegedly chopping off their husbands’ genitals while another was accused of killing her disabled husband.
A man accused of beating his wife earlier this week before inserting two bottles into her private parts is said to be in hiding.
