Wiper party leaders have called on CORD principals to support former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka for presidency in the 2017 General Election.
Nyali MP Awiti Bolo โ the Wiper Democratic Movement Kenya treasurer โ said, โ CORD should support Kalonzo for presidency as he is better placed to liberate the country from runaway corruption.โ
They were speaking when Kalonzo launched voter registration campaign in Mlolongo, Mavoko constituency.
The exercise is seen as a strategy to bolster the partyโs bargaining power in CORD.
The Wiper leaders urged Ukambani elected leaders to rally their supporters to take national identification cards and register as voters in readiness for the next elections.
He, however, steered clear of asking his partners in the coalition to back him for the top seat but instead accused President Uhuru Kenyattaโs administration of failure to tame runaway corruption.
โWe have to register in large numbers to send this government home come 2017,โ said Kalonzo.
The leaders told the locals that it was only through taking national identification cards and registering as voters that the party would have a bargaining power in the coalition ahead of the next polls.
Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jnr urged residents to register as voters in large numbers.
โKalonzo has been told he has no numbers because you have not registered as voters,โ he said.
The former Vice President said CORD may be forced to rally their supporters to Uhuru Park to demand an explanation from the government on billions of shillings lost according to the Auditor Generalโs report.
