Two months ago, the Coalition for Reforms and Democracy(CORD) led a rally at Uhuru Park in solidarity with striking teachers.
During the September rally, the Raila led team launched a teacherโs account in which Kenyans were urged to contribute money to assist the striking teachers.ย Upon the launch, Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka committed to deposit KSh 100,000 each into the solidarity account to kick-start a process that would see teachers get paid.
After much pressure to reveal the amount of money that was raised, CORD has issued a statement. It managed to raise Ksh 1.5 Million.
Speaking at a Press conference on Wednesday,ย Siaya Senator James Orengo said that the money shall be forwarded to the teachers to assist in settling legal fees.
He added that 2,000 Kenyans contributed to the fund.
