Cord leader Raila Odinga has told the Kalenjin community he did not play any role in the Deputy President William Ruto’s ICC case.
He said when the case came up, Ruto was a key leader in ODM and he could not fix one of his own at the International Criminal Court.
Raila was speaking at a funds drive for the Kitoben African Gospel church at Chesinede Primary School in Kipkelion East, Kericho county on Sunday.
He helped raise Sh1.35 million for the completion of the church building.
Raila said he has been fought right, left and centre by his political detractors over Ruto’s woes at the ICC.
He said he will not be cowed or silenced from telling the truth.
Raila was with Bomet Governor Isaac Rutto, senators James Orengo (Siaya), Johnstone Muthama (Machakos) and Jonh Lonyangapuo (West Pokot), Kisumu woman representative Rose Nyanguma, Rarieda MP Nicholas Gumbo, Nandi ODM chairman Kipkorir Menjo and official Ola Karan.
He said he will ensure the Pesa Mashinani referendum succeeds so more funds can be sent to the counties.
Raila said the poverty level in Kenya has risen to unimaginable level.
He said the common mwananchi has been left with nothing and cannot even put food on the table due to rampant corruption in the Jubilee government.
โI and Governor Rutto fought had to see Kenya get the devolved system of government in place. But that is not yet until devolution is fully achieved before the next general election,โ Raila said.
