The “rumour” started by blogger Robert Alai caused an online storm after he claimed that Ruto had collapsed at his Karen home on Wednesday night and rushed to Karen hospital.

“CONFIRMED: DP Ruto collapsed at his Karen home last evening. He was rushed to Nairobi hospital. Waiting for more updates,” Alai posted on his Facebook page.

This sparked off a trending topic #TorchWentOff on twitter trying to link Ruto’s supposed illness with the torch placed by Bukusu elders in Jacob Juma’s grave to nab his killers.

Former MP Cyrus Jirongo had sensationally linked Ruto to Juma’s death, claims the DP has denied. Ruto has threatened to sue Jirongo for defamation.

On Friday, the two Jubilee leaders will proceed to Wajir county to review the progress of the roll-out of the Digital Literacy Program , as well as other development projects.

On Saturday, they will be in Garissa County where they will launch and commission projects, as well as visit Garissa University College when they conclude the three-day visit in North Eastern Kenya.
