Dagoretti North MP Simba Arati, Nairobi ODM chairman George Aladwa and former Raila Odinga’s aide Caroli Omondi have been summoned to the directorate of criminal investigations.
The three were invited to record statements over claims they have been recruiting youth as militias to help Raila overthrow the Jubilee government.
The trio will appear before the DCI offices in Kiambu road at 8am tomorrow.
Speaking to the Star on the phone, Aladwa confirmed receiving the summons and said they will honour them.
“Caroli, Arati and I have received the summons. A student claimed that we have been recruiting youth as militia in South Sudan,” Aladwa said.
He said that the student alleged that the recruits would be brought back to destablise the government.
“We don’t fear anything and the three of us will be there at 8am,” he said.
The university student was taken to a Nairobi court last Tuesday following the sensational allegations.
The student alleged that the group was to help Raila overthrow the government after 2017 elections.
Wicklif Ouma Ochieng’ appeared before senior principal magistrate Joyce Oluoch and stated that they were to work jointly with Riek Machar forces in the mission.
Ochieng’ was ordered to be escorted to Kenyatta National Hospital for psychiatric tests before pleading to the charges against him.
The charges against the accused states that on February 1, 2016 at Langata Directorate Criminal Investigations office in Nairobi county, he informed chief inspector Fatuma Ali Hadi that one Omondi Karoli and George Aladwa had recruited him and others to be trained as militias at Southern Sudan.
In another account, Ochieng’ claimed that Prof Bernard Njoroge, UON deputy vice chancellor, was planning to assassinate UON VC Prof Peter Mbithi.
The counts stated that he made the allegations at Nairobi county criminal investigations office on May 17, 2016 before inspector Joseph Muchai.
