William Ruto presents his PhD thesis to directors at UoN

โ€“ Kenyaโ€™s Deputy President William Ruto is a learned man, unkown to many of his electorate.

โ€“ He is today, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, presenting a PhD thesis to the director of Biological Sciences at the University of Nairobi.

โ€“ He has studies Environmental Sciences as well as Botany and Zoology at the same university.

Who knew that Kenyaโ€™s Deputy President WillIam Ruto had enough time left in his busy schedule to attend classes for his PhD?

Well, this afternoon, Tuesday, June 14, 2016, he was busy presenting his thesis on โ€˜The impact of human activities on riparian reserves at Saiwa Swamp, Trans Nzoia Countyโ€™ to the director of School of Biological Sciences at the University of Nairobi.

Our learned second in command graduated with a degree in Botany and Zoology from the University of Nairobi in 1990.

During this time, he was the chairman of the Christian Union as well as an avid volley ball player.

He later enrolled for a Masters degree in Environmental Science and graduated in 2011 before pursuing the PhD in Biological Sciences, all from the same university.

It is important to note that the DP has never been a formal employee and has only known politics since his early years.

He joined politics while still in campus at the University of Nairobi as a KANU youth winger in the christened YK92.

He worked alongside former Lugari MP Cyrus Jirongo in former president Daniel Moiโ€™s regime to get the former president re-elected.

He has since served in the capacity of minister in the Agriculture docket as well as in the Higher Education one during former president Mwai Kibakiโ€™s tenure.
