NETANYAHU: NO ONE TRIED TO KILL ME IN KENYA
The government of Israel has dismissed as โabsolute nonsenseโ a report in a Kuwaiti daily that claimed Kenyan security authorities foiled an attempt to assassinate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his trip to Kenya earlier this week.
An Israeli TV station also quoted Mr Netanyahu saying that he knew nothing about the claims.
The Kuwaiti paper, Al-Jarida, quoted an anonymous, ostensibly well-placed source saying that the Kenyan authorities ordered a change in the route taken by Mr Netanyahu and his delegation from Jomo Kenyatta International Airport to their hotel on Tuesday.
INCIDENT-FREE TRIP
The report also alleged that an explosive device was found on the original route, and two suspects were arrested. The report added that Kenyan authorities had placed a gag order on further details of the alleged incident.
However, Kenyan authorities have likewise refuted the claims saying Mr Netanyahuโs trip was incident free.
โThose are speculations and we did not arrest anyone during Prime Minister Netanyahuโs visit to Kenya. Nothing like that happened,โ Nairobi County Commissioner Mr Japheth Koome toldNairobi News.
Netanyahu visited Kenya on Tuesday on the second stop of a four-nation African trip that also took him to Uganda, Rwanda and, on Thursday, Ethiopia.
