Ten people injured during the incident were rushed to Avenue hospital. Nine have been discharged, while one has been admitted and is recuperating.

While the cause of the collapse is yet to be established, the site’s project manager Clement Moi, said the wall was overpowered by the loose soil.

He said there were 200 employees at the site and that the families of the deceased have been notified.

Rescue operations by the Kenya red Cross, National Youth Service and GSU at the site are still going on.

The incident comes shortly after a mason was killed and two of his colleagues seriously injured when a building under construction collapsed in Spring Valley, Nairobi.

They were identified as Victor Imbuka and Francis Akiduna.

In Huruma estate on April 29, a building collapsed after a heavy downpour leaving at least 55 people dead.

Preliminary investigations indicated the structure with 198 rooms was established on a weak foundation.

Five suspects linked appeared in court over the incident and were released on Sh1 million bond each.

They were brothers Samuel Kamau and Henry Muiruri, Crispus Ndinyo, Justus Kathenge and Seline Ogallo.
