Drama ensued in Mombasa County after county inspectorate officers attempted to bring down a wall that had been erected on a piece of land whose ownership is disputed.

Shortly after the demolition started, police officers arrived, stopped the county officers, and sought to arrest Idris Rahman – the leader of the inspectorate team.

However, Rahmanโ€™s officers resisted the arrest, insisting that they would drive him to the police station using their county vehicle.

A scuffle ensued as county officers used physical force to block Rahmanโ€™s arrest.

It was then that the police officers, dressed in their civilian clothes, removed pistols and shot in the air as the scared county officers dashed to safety.

Rahman was eventually arrested and taken to the nearby police station.

The controversial piece of land has been the subject of a dispute between the county government and Kongowea MCA Jabess Oduor who claims to own the land.

Oduor has been in bad terms with the Joho-led administration after he declared anย interest in the 2017 Mombasa gubernatorial race.

In 2015, unknown gunmen shot at the ODM-elected ward representativeโ€™s vehicle although he escaped unhurt.
