Psalm 103:2
Bless and affectionately praise the LORD, O my soul, And do not forget any of His benefits;
I will praise the Lord because of the many benefits that have come my way because of what He has done. When we talk about giving thanks and having an attitude of gratitude, we tend to gravitate towards the physical things that we can see with our eyes. The house, the car, a great job, good health and so on and yes we should because all these are the doings of the Lord but there is so much more.
As this psalm says;
God forgives my sins and heals all my diseases. He redeems my life from the pit and crowns me with loving kindness and tender mercies. God satisfies my years with good things so that my youth is renewed like the eagles. That is more than enough for me to rejoice for a lifetime but that is not all.
God has reconciled me to Himself and given me the ministry of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:18)
He has also blessed me with every spiritual blessing, not he will, He already has blessed me (Ephesians 1:3)
I am a citizen of heaven because of what He has done (Philippians 3:20) as if that is not enough I have been given eternal life, I will live with Him forever (John 5:24) Jesus said he will never leave us nor forsake us. He promised not to leave us like orphans and thus He has given us His Spirit who dwells in us (1 Corinthians 2:12).
Though I was a sinner, I am now a temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16; 6:19). The list just keeps growing, wonderful things that God has done for me things that sometimes I tend to forget because I focus on the physical not realizing how blessed I am in the spiritual realm. Jesus is preparing a place for me in His fatherโs house, He himself said so. I am a child of God, I am a saint, I am a friend of Christ, I am Gods workmanship.
What more could I say?
I will keep reminding myself, I will keep praising the Lord lest I allow other things to distract me and I forget ALL His benefits!
