A video emerged on Friday of Bishop Margaret Wanjiru giving out handouts to youths ahead of Nairobi Jubilee primaries on Monday.
Wanjiru intends to vie for the Nairobi governor seat.
The Bishop, Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko and former Gatanga MP Peter Kenneth are planning to unseat the incumbent Evans Kidero.
In the 52-second video, Wanjiru, dressed in a Jubilee party t-shirt, is seen atop her vehicle holding a wad of notes and handing out single notes to a crows surging around the convey.
The supporters surge forward to receive the notes, while others in the background say they cannot push themselves because of Sh50 shillings.
“She should be bringing it until here. We can’t go pushing each other around there for a 50 bob,” one was heard saying.
Attempts to reach Wanjiru failed as calls went unanswered.
Election laws state that aspirants in the August 8 election are not to give cash handouts in exchange for votes as this could result in being locked out of the polls.
More recently, Sonko denied claims that his aides dishedย out cash toย Mombasa residents while he mobilised them to attend a rally by the President.
A video seen by the Star showed Jubilee agentsย distributing the party’sย flags and people walking away with money in their hands.
