Over 30 people have been killed and scores injured in yet another grisly road accident involving Modern Coast bus and 13 other vehicles at Sachagwan along Nakuru-Eldoret Highway.
The accident happened after a truck driver who was being chased by NTSA lost control of the vehicle and hit oncoming vehicles, Modern Coast Bus, four Nissan matatus, a truck and several other private vehicles resulting to the deaths.
On Monday night, an accident at Kamukuywa bridge along Webuye-Kitale Road claimed 19 lives. The crash left scores injured after several vehicles were involved in multiple accidents.
In an interview, the Bungoma North OCPD Eliud Okello toldย The Standardย that a matatu rammed into a tractor that was transporting sugar cane at Kamukuywa Bridge.
Several other vehicles including lorries and private vehicles were also involved in the pile-up.
The reports indicate over 50 lives have been claimed by road accidents in a span of three days and scores injured.
On Tuesday morning, three people died in a road accident involving a 14-seater matatu plying the Nairobi- Kitui route at Kwa Makaa along Thika-Matuu Road.
On Saturday, 14 people died in aย road accident at Moinonin area along Marigat-Loruk Road in Baringo County on Saturday afternoon.
According to witnesses,ย an Administration Police lorry veered off the road and rolled several times killing 23 people who had boarded the truck to Kapedo from Marigat town.
Baringo AP Commandant Mr Robinson Ndiwa said the vehicle was heading back to Kapedo but carried some civilians along the way. On board were five Administration Policemen who sustained injuries. They were rushed to Kabarnet Hospital by Military personnel who were using the route.
Six hours later, lives of seven promising local artists from the Rift Valley Region were cut short in another tragic road accident at Kamara area along Nakuru Eldoret Highway.
The artists were traveling from Kericho town heading to perform at lloti area in Equator before the 7.30pm Saturday crash.
The accident according to the Rift Valley Traffic Enforcement Officer, Zero Arome, involved four vehicles among them a Toyota Probox, a Toyota Wish, double cabin pick-up and a lorry. The artists, five men and two women were traveling in the Probox vehicle registration number KCJ158P.
Mr Arome said the driver of the Probox that was heading towards Eldoret town and had tried to overtake a vehicle that was headed in the same direction and collided with the lorry that was headed towards Nakuru, killing the seven on spot.
