Ivy Wangechi ‘killer’ to get mental test
The man accused of killing Ivy Wangechi, a Moi University medical student, is to set undergo a mental test on Wednesday to determine his fitness to stand trial.
Mr Naftali Kinuthia will be tested at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH), the same facility where he hacked to death the sixth-year student over unrequited love last week.
On Monday, Eldoret Senior Resident Magistrate Nicholas Moseti, sitting for the High Court deputy registrar ordered the mental assessment and treatment for the suspect when he appeared to face charges over the killing.
Mr Moseti directed that Mr Kinuthia be taken to MTRH for treatment on April 18 and 23 for medical review for injuries he suffered after he was attacked by members of the public after the gruesome killing.
The suspect is being held at the Naiberi Police Station where he will cool his heels for 13 more days as police record witness statements.
His case will be mentioned on April 30.
