VIDEO: Anne Waiguru Addresses Confusion Around Her Surname: Kirinyaga Governor, Anne Waiguru, on Tuesday, addressed the confusion surrounding her surname, following her marriage to city lawyer Kamotho Waiganjo.
Speaking to journalists outside the Supreme Court after she won a case against Narc Kenya leader, Martha Karua, Waiguru cited names that she would like to be referred as.
“You can call me Mumbi, Anne Mumbi, Anne Mumbi Kamotho, minji minji is also fine, it is just a name,” she divulged.
She, however, stated that she would issue an official statement on her formal name.
The governor was previously married to Tony Waiguru and had continued using his surname even after they got divorced.
According to the Kikuyu traditions, the former Devolution CS is expected to change her name to the husband’s first name (Kamotho).
On July 13, 2019, the Kirinyaga County boss exchanged vows with Kamotho in a traditional ceremony.
The two lovebirds sealed their union before their family members and friends at Kiamugumo Primary School.
