Experiencing God’s peace is not an escape from reality! We are not transfixed or somehow mentally “removed” from feeling pain or struggles; rather, it is an unmovable rock-solid foundation so that no matter the tears we cry or the sorrow we feel, deep down inside we know with a steadfast assurance that God is with us.
He is in control, and the joy of the Lord will emerge far greater than any agony we experience.
An Unmovable Rock-solid Foundation: Experiencing God’s Peace
Key Verse:
โYou will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you.โ โ Isaiah 26:3 (NIV)
1. The Chaos Around Us
Life is full of stormsโunexpected loss, anxiety, confusion, heartbreak. In the whirlwind, peace can feel unreachable. But God’s peace isn’t tied to our circumstances; it’s rooted in who He is.
JESUS SAID, โPEACE I LEAVE WITH YOU; MY PEACE I GIVE YOU. I DO NOT GIVE TO YOU AS THE WORLD GIVESโฆโ (JOHN 14:27)
2. God as the Rock
Scripture often refers to God as our Rockโunshakeable, eternal, and dependable.
โTRULY HE IS MY ROCK AND MY SALVATION; HE IS MY FORTRESS, I WILL NEVER BE SHAKEN.โ โ PSALM 62:2
When everything else crumbles, He remains. Trusting in Him builds a foundation that can’t be moved by circumstances.
3. Experiencing His Peace
Godโs peace isnโt passiveโit guards our hearts and minds (Philippians 4:7). We experience it when we:
Trust in His character and promises.
Pray and release our worries.
Meditate on His Word.
Remain in His presence daily.
4. Building Your Life on the Rock
Like the wise man in Matthew 7:24โ25, when we build our lives on Christโthe Rockโstorms will come, but we wonโt fall.
โTHE RAIN CAME DOWN, THE STREAMS ROSE, AND THE WINDS BLEW AND BEAT AGAINST THAT HOUSE; YET IT DID NOT FALLโฆโ
Closing Encouragement
Godโs peace is not the absence of trouble, but the presence of God in the midst of it. When we build our lives on Him, we stand firmโcalm in chaos, anchored in hope, and held by perfect peace.
