Kibaki And Raila Should Be The First Casuaties

Friday January 25, 2013 – Deputy Prime Minister Uhuru Kenyatta has said President Mwai Kibaki and Prime Minister Raila Odinga should be the ones facing trial at the International Criminal Court (ICC), since the two were the main protagonists in the 2007 general election.

“I was never a candidate for Presidency in 2007, neither was William Ruto,” Uhuru told the Al-Jazeera TV.
“The question (on who must bear responsibility for the violence) must be addressed by the two individuals seeking Presidency in 2007,” Uhuru added.
Uhuru said President Kibaki for the PNU and Prime Minister Raila Odinga for ODM were the main players who should be questioned on what happened in year 2007.
Uhuru noted that Raila, who is his main rival for the 2013 Presidential elections, should be held responsible for the violence that rocked the country after the hotly disputed 2007 election where 1133 people died and 650,000 displaced.
Uhuru remembered how he lost the Presidential election against President Kibaki in 2002, but conceded defeat, thereby averting any violence that could have erupted.
