Police from St Joseph County, Indiana in the US shot dead a Kenyan after he stabbed to death his 6-year-old daughter and wounded his wife.
The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit said the man, identified as Edward Mwaura, was shot and killed as he could not stop stabbing his daughter.
“Officers saw the suspect laying on top of his little girl stabbing her multiple times over and over. To stop the attack one officer fired his issued weapon hitting the suspect, the suspect died at the scene,” Lt. David Wells the Assistant Commander said.
According to ABC 57 dispatchers started getting 911 calls shortly after 5 am Sunday.
One neighbor who lives across the hall from the family said a verbal argument between the mother and father turned physical and the wife who was suffering from multiple stab wounds ran from her apartment and started screaming for help.
The officers arrived to find a female victim bloodied in the parking lot and she confirmed that her 6-year-old daughter was inside the apartment with her husband.
Police officers said when they entered the 4252 apartment unit they saw large amounts of blood smeared on the walls and floor and heard the little girl screaming from apartment 1B.
“Officers were feeling for safety of that child, they forced entry kicking in the door to the apartment.” said Lt. Wells.
He said they found the man stabbing his daughter repeatedly and shot him.
The little girl was rushed to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead on arrival while the mother is undergoing treatment.-standardmedia.co.ke
