Word of the Day:Don’t drift stay on course.

Strong currents pull you west when you intend to go east or north when you want to head south. It’s called drift. It happens when you either fail to notice or fail to make timely corrections to maintain your heading. Remember the old saying, “The road to hell is paved with good intentions”? That’s exactly what happens to a person whose heart has drifted away from God. Perhaps the person started with the best of intentions. But intentions are easy, so pleasant to entertain. Good ones make us feel good about ourselves.

The hard part is staying on course, resisting temptation to let personal desires or circumstances push you off course. Drift is what happened to Solomon. His heart drifted from complete devotion to God to a halfhearted devotion. He wanted God, but he wanted other things as well – powerful alliances, beautiful women, other gods. And so his kingdom drifted away from God.

Today, pray for the grace to recognize whatever drift has occurred in your own life. Ask God to anchor you more completely in Him. If you need to change course, ask for the wisdom and courage to whatever it takes to get back on track with Him.

1 John 2:15:Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
