NAIROBI, KENYA:ย United Republican Party (ย URP) has threatened to expel Bomet County Governorย Isaac Ruttoย for criticising theย Jubileeย Government.

Over 40ย MPsย led by Benjamin Lagat and Deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso also want Rutto to resign if he is not satisfied with the wayย Jubileeย is handling devolution.

In a statement issued at a Nairobiย hotel, theย MPsdefended the President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Rutto administration saying it was committed to its promises.

Theย MPsย asked Rutto to quit the ruling coalition if he is disgruntled and seek fresh mandate using any of the opposition parties.

โ€œIf he thinksย Jubileeย is not committed to devolution, I want to ask him to resign any go to Cord of any other party that he believes is committed to supporting count y governments,โ€ Langat who read a statement on behalf of the leaders said.

The Ainamoi MP said thatย URPย will soon convene a special NEC meeting to ask those members who donโ€™t believe in the party ideals anymore to quit.

On Tuesday, Rutto who chairs the Governors Summit was quoted attacking the Uhuru-Ruto regime saying the administration was not committed to devolution.

And last week, the outspoken county boss attended a function in Homabay where he criticized the questioning of former Prime Minister Raila Odingaโ€™s aide Eliud Owalo over allegations of plotting to destabilize the Government.

However, all these has not gone down well withย URPย MPsย who ironically accused Rutto of being part of the wider scheme by the opposition and some unnamed foreigners to sabotage government.

A defiant Rutto told off theย MPsย saying they are just excited over nothing saying he will stay focused on pushing for full implementation of devolution.

He laughed off at accusation of being used by foreigners to sabotage theย Jubileeย government terming it an old Kanu clichรฉ that was used to fight independent minded leaders.

โ€œThey must have heard that when they were in primaryย schoolย of working with foreigners and opposition and now have picked it. What we are raising are pertinent issues and we want to see their committee and not personalized attacks.โ€

Rutto said the agenda of devolution does not belong to any party be itย Jubileeย or Cord but for all Kenyans; a cause he will fight for in spite of the threats.
