Embu county assembly speaker Justus Mate and clerk Jimmy Kauma have today, Friday been charged withย contempt of court.
This was after the two ignored a court injuction obtained by embattled Embu Governor Martin Wambora that sought to stop his impeachment debate from being debated.
Mate and Kauma had however obtained a court order from Nyeri High Court that barred todayโs ruling.
Kerugoya county assembly lawyer Charles Njenga is also reported to have moved to the Nyeri court of appeal last week to oppose the contempt case facing the Mate and Kauma.
The judgement was previously supposed be delivered on 16th May but was postponed after the Kauma fell sick but Wambora’s lawyer David Njoroge says he is ready to defend his client in the case.
Mate and Kauma will now know their fate in the next 60 days in the contempt of court charges facing them over impeachment of Embu governor Martin Wambora.
