Kenyan Girl Stranded in Saudi Arabia

Ulda OnyangoThe parents of a 20-year-old Kenyan woman allegedly being held in Saudi Arabia have petitioned the Government to intervene and have her brought back home.

Elly Opar, a mechanic in Likoni, Mombasa County, said his daughter, Princess Ulda Onyango Opar left for Saudi Arabia in early May and has been complaining of harassment by her employer

“She was lured by friends to take up this job and even went ahead to steal my personal documents when applying for a passport without my knowledge,’’ the distraught father said in an interview yesterday.

Princess, according to her father, left for Saudi Arabia having been told that she was to work as a shop assistant.

“When she got there, she was assigned to care for an aging Saudi woman who she has to feed, wash and cloth and in her short stint there, our daughter has had to spend time in police cells after disagreeing with her bosses,” he said.

Opar says once the family finally made contact with the two Kenyan agents who recruited Princes, only known as Binti and Robert, they asked the family to give them Sh35,000 to facilitate herreturn back home.

“Things are hard for us as a family and we only managed to raise Sh15,000 which they took and still want the balancecleared before they can help us,’’ Opar said. – The Standard
