If I Were Uhuru , I Would Have Said No Kenya has never had someone with the kind of the investigative skills that Mr.Michael Gichangi demonstrated, during his tenure of office, as the Director Generalย of the National Intelligence Service (NIS), and most likely, there will never be any other Kenyan like him, in the near future.
Before any major attacks took place in Kenya during his time as the head of the NIS, Mr. Gichangi provided very detailed reports of the plans of those attacks, early enough for the execution of the necessary measures to stop the attacks, sometimes 3-4 months prior to attacks.
Since his duties were strictly limited to investigating and reporting his investigations to the relevant authorities for the purposes of stopping and/or confronting the attackers before they made the attacks, it is on record that he always made sure he reported his findings to the National Security Committee.
Mr. Gichangi will be remembered most from the report he gave to the National Security Committee, three months before the West-gate Mall attacks, despite which report no action was taken to stop the attacks which resulted to the deaths of many innocent Kenyans.
‘NIS GAVE ADVANCE WESTGATE WARNING’
From the interpretation of his conduct and his performances as occasionally reported by the Kenya Media, Mr. Michael Gichangi has been a honest and competent Civil Servant who did his work diligently and wisely. President Uhuru Kenyatta should have thought twice before accepting his resignation.
