Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko has denied rumours that he is suffering from a mental illness and is currently hospitalised.
Speaking to the Star on the phone, Sonko denied the recent social media reports saying that he is not in hospital but on an official Senate visit to Mandera county.
Sonko said that he and other leaders visited a quarry in Korome, 15 kilometres from Mandera town where 36 people were killed in December by al Shabaab militants.
The leaders also visited the scene of another terror attack in the county where 28 passengers of a bus hijacked by the terror group were murdered.
โFirst they spread rumours that I was dead, then they spread rumours that I am in Mathare hospital, now they are trying to create bad blood between myself and State House,โ the Nairobi Senator said.
Asked why Senators are on an official meeting while the House is on recess, Sonko said that the leaders visited the site of the two massacres as a fact-finding mission. He also sent photos of himself while in Mandera.ย โThose spreading the rumours are malicious people who are out to tarnish my nameโ he added.
