On Thursday the 12th March, 2015 in London, H.E Mr. Lazarus Ombai Amayo, MBS, High Commissioner of Kenya to United Kingdom, presented his credentials to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II at Buckingham Palace, accompanied by his wife Mrs. Nelly Amayo. To witness the event were also Officials from the Mission, Deputy High Commissioner Amb. Jackline Yonga, Defense Adviser Col. Peter Muteti, Mrs. Grace Cerere and Ms. Jayne Toroitich. Thereafter, the High Commissioner hosted a vin d’honneur reception at the chancery.
The reception was attended by Her Majesty’s Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps, Mr. Alistair Harrison, Parliamentarians from the House of Lords and the House of Commons, Senior Officials from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, Dean of the Diplomatic Corps, High Commissioners/Ambassadors, Heads of International Organizations, Visiting Chief of the Defence Forces (CDF) of the Republic of Kenya, Gen. Dr. Julius Karangi, Corporate Executives and the Kenya’s Diaspora.
Mr. Alistair Harrison, Her Majesty’s Marshall of the Diplomatic Corps, Congratulated the High Commissioner upon his presentation of Letters of credence to Her Majesty the Queen. He recalled that he served with the High Commissioner in Zambia and expressed his confidence in his ability to take the relations between Kenya and the United Kingdom a notch higher. He then proposed a toast to the good health and long life for the President, High Commissioner, and to the Government and the people of Kenya.
In his remarks, the High Commissioner informed that earlier during the presentation of his letters of credence to Her Majesty the Queen he conveyed warm greetings and best wishes from His Excellency President Uhuru Kenyatta expressing his desire to promote bonds of friendship and cooperation that happily exist between the two countries.
He further reported that Her Majesty the Queen had recalled with fond memories her previous visits to Kenya and expressed the mutual desire to strengthen the ties for the benefit of two countries.
The High Commissioner noted with appreciation that United Kingdom is a key strategic development partner of Kenya through DFID and remains the biggest cumulative external investor with over 100 companies operating in the country.
He expressed his commitment to working towards promotion and sustenance of a broad based, healthy, and mutually rewarding bilateral relations during his tour of duty and informed that he and the staff will dedicate their energies and time to further promote greater understanding and useful exchanges between the two governments, the private sectors of the two countries and encourage people to people contact.
The High Commissioner further expressed his desire to actively engage with the vibrant Kenyan diaspora, who are Kenya’s first line ambassadors and partners in national development endeavours.
While reassuring that Kenya is a promising and safe destination for investment, trade and tourism, the High Commissioner assured that he will work with Her Majesty’s government and all stakeholders to build on past success stories to achieve even closer and more beneficial relations based on mutual respect.

He stated that the bilateral relations will be facilitated by historical links, shared values of democracy, rule of law and mutual interest in promotion of prosperity for the people from the two countries and that he looked forward to continued cooperation in the worthy efforts towards promotion of peace and security in the horn of Africa.
The High Commissioner concluded by proposing a toast to the good health and long life for Her Majesty the Queen, and to the government and the people of the United Kingdom. More to follow.
