Celebrated Ugandan TV siren is dead
Celebrated Ugandan TV siren Rosemary Nankabirwa breathed her last, Sunday afternoon at the Nairobi’s Aga Khan Hospital. Around midday, social media was a buzz with rumours of her death but many refused to believe it until close members of the family confirmed the news.
Nankabirwa had been flown into Nairobi on Saturday as the public joined hands at a fundraising drive at Serena Hotel Kampala, raising over Sh100 million for her treatment.
The news left friends and well wishers heartbroken, including President Yoweri Museveni, who had joined the fundraising activities.
Nankabirwa, who was battling adrenocortical carcinoma, had been hospitalised at the cancer and heart institute at Mulago Hospital before she was brought to Nairobi. She died at the age of 35. May her soul rest in peace.
