Recruit 10000 Police Officers Immediately Uhuru Orders

President Uhuru Kenyatta has directed the Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinett to ensure that the 10,000 recruits whose enrolment is pending immediately report to Kenya Police College in Kiganjo.

Kenyatta, who was speaking during the address to the nation following the Garissa University attack by suspected Al Shabaab militia, said that the security personnel shortage in the country must be addressed immediately.

โ€œI direct theย Inspector Generalย of Police to take urgent steps and ensure that theย 10,000ย recruits whose enrolment is pending, promptly report for training at theย Kenya Police College, Kiganjo,โ€ said the President.

โ€œI take full responsibility for this directive.โ€

 

No more waiting as we lose lives

The Head of State noted that the country has suffered unnecessarily due to shortage of security personnel.

โ€œKenya badly needs additional officers, and I will not keep the nation waiting,โ€ he added.

The President further noted that the Government has undertaken appropriate deployment to Garissa and has fully seized of the situation.

He called on Kenyans to โ€œstay calm as we resolve this matter, and to provide the authorities with any information they may have in connection with any threats to our security.โ€

โ€œThis is a moment for everyone throughout the country to be vigilant as we continue to confront and defeat our enemies,โ€ he noted.

The early morning attacks are said to have left over 50 people dead and hundreds injured.
