A 27-year-old bridegroom has gone missing a week to his wedding, sending his bride to be into a hunger strike and agony.

The two were in the company of the brideโ€™s sister when the groom said he was going to River road to get part of the wedding shopping they had left in one of the shops.

An hour later, the bride received a shocking SMS message from a new number informing her that her fiancรฉ had been arrested. The sender said Ms Mwende will be informed of the police station where her groom was being held.

Ms Mwende tried calling the number immediately after but the call did not go through.

For the next few hours she kept calling the number to no avail. She asked her sister to take her to the shop on River road where her fiancรฉย was to pick the shopping.

NOT SEEN

On arrival, the two were informed by the shopโ€™s attendants that he had not been seen.

The two then quickly spread the news to friends and relatives and a man hunt launched in all police stations located near the city centre till late Wednesday.

On Thursday morning, the bride accompanied by her brother-in-laws reported the incident at Kamukunji police station, then left for Machakos County where the wedding was scheduled to be held this Saturday.

On Saturday, the bride received yet another message from a different line. It informed her that her fiancรฉ will be home soon as he was not the suspect they had sought to arrest.

That number then went offline. A family friend sought help from police friends who tracked the number in Milimani area, Nairobi.

According Protus Matheka, a brother to the groom, the family does not suspect any malicious intent by the groom.

โ€œThere has not been any sign of people who want to stop the wedding from taking place and therefore as a family we do not know what could have befell Kyalo,โ€ he toldย Nairobi News.

LOVE TRIANGLE

Mr Matheka, who lives in Wamunyu, Machakos County, added that the bride Ms Mwende has been in tears and has not eaten since her fiancรฉ went missing.

โ€œWe are hoping that police will get to the bottom of this. On Sunday, the investigators called us and asked a few questions and told us they are still investigating the incident,โ€ he said.

The family has ruled out any love triangle and are suspecting that Mr Kyalo might have been kidnapped.

The wedding preparations had been completed and the big day was to be celebrated at Wamunyu Baptist Church. Family members hope the weddingย will still happen if Mr Kyalo is found in good health.
