Pastor James Ng’ang’a has said he will visit Limuru town to “exorcise demons claiming lives” through road carnage.
The Neno Evangelism Centre pastor said he will hold prayers despite opposition by locals who “are misled by demon-possessed people out to further their evil plans”.
“I will come back to Limuru by force,” Ng’ang’a said during a service on Sunday.
“I’m ready to request police protection if necessary, even if it means the government will be required to bring the Kenya Defense Forces from Kismayu to protect me because I must exorcise those demons.”
Ng’ang’a said death and jail will not stop him from doing what God freed him from prison for.
The pastor was linked to an accident in Manguo area on July 26, after which 38-year-old Mercy Njeri died.
He was charged at Limuru law courts with failing to report an accident, giving wrong information to police and conspiring to defeat justice.
Ng’ang’a denied the charges, saying he was being charged by the press, which he said ignored “all good things I have done in this country”.
The pastor hit out at a newspaper which he said castigated educated people who “follow semi-illiterate preachers”, saying preachers don’t need degrees to “respond to God’s call”.
“This is not an elective office but a ministry for those God has called. No education level can qualify one to be a servant of God,” he said.
Ng’ang’a is a class two drop out, who spent most of his youth in prisons, cumulatively serving 21 years in jail for various crimes.
He started preaching in Mombasa town in the late 1990s after he was released from Shimo la Tewa prison, where he had served an eight-year jail term for armed robbery.
