Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto is back in the country after a successful surgery in a private South Africa hospital.
The governor jetted back to Kenya from South Africa on Friday, November 18 to a rousing reception at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA).
The Star reported the county boss was so overjoyed he appeared to shed tears of joy.
Ruto’s cheek surgery generated a lot of debate on social media with Kenyans doubting the seriousness of his injuries.

He has now responded on the jokes saying his injuries were very serious which necessitated his surgery.
“I also enjoyed the light moments when I saw some joking with Elastoplast on social media. It was a good idea to symbolize that we should not joke around with police brutality against other Kenyans,” he said.
Ruto claimed he was advised to go for further treatment and undergo surgery within seven days by a specialist.
“After discussion with doctors in Nairobi, they advised me on ways to seek treatment either in India, South Africa, America or Europe they asked me to make the decision rather quickly because they had to do it within seven days”, he said.
Ruto who was injured under his right eye by a teargas canister said the canister broke a number of bones in his nasal area and cheeks.
The governor’s supporters have lined up activities to accord the county boss a rousing welcome on Saturday, November 19.
