Former Interior CS Joseph Ole Lenku has dismissed a move by a section of Maa leaders to back National Super Alliance (NASA) during a visit to CORD headquarters on Friday.
Lenku, who is eyeing the Kajiado County Gubernatorial seat, insisted that the Maasai community is solidly behind the Jubilee Party and will back President Uhuru Kenyattaโs re-election come August.
The governor aspirant, who is seeking to unseat incumbent Kajiado Governor David Ole Nkedianye, has similarly called for a free, fair and credible process during the Jubilee Party nominations.
Speaking in Kiambu Town on Saturday while presiding over 40th anniversary of Metropolitan Teachers Sacco, Ole Lenku urged those who will lose in the Jubilee primaries to throw their weight behind victors.
The Maasai community has in the past backed the opposition Orange Democratic Movement, with the greatest show of might being the Kajiado Central by-election in 2015 that saw the ODM candidateย Elijah Memusi tramp his Jubilee Party counterpart Patrick Tutui to become MP.
Mr Memusi took over from Interior Cabinet Secretary Joseph Nkaissery after he was nominated by President Uhuru Kenyatta into Cabinet.
Mr Nkaissery was also elected on an ODM ticket in the 2013 General Election.
