In the announcement, Party Secretary General, Raphael Tuju, said that they had reached the decision to move the primaries forward to avoid cases of interference with other parties bearing in mind that the opposition Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) will hold its primaries in the city county on Tuesday, April 25.

Tuju said that the party is prepared to hold the primaries but argued that Nairobi County is the most competitive and hence the need to give it more time.

In his address, Mr Tuju noted thatย ODM had already booked most of the polling stations, which include schools, and hence the need to move their nominations.

โ€œODM had already booked most of the polling stations including schools and hence there could have been a possible clash if we held our Nairobi primaries tomorrow (Monday), noted Mr Tuju.

The Jubilee primaries will now start with Baringo, Elgeyo Marakwet, Kirinyaga, Bomet andย Nandi counties.
