Nairobi Governor Mike Mbuvi Sonko has paid the hospital bill for a woman, who lost four children after a lorry rammed into her house killing her four children in Migori County.
Ms Margaret Mugusu had been detained at Akidiva Hospital after she failed to clear the Sh30,000 medical bill.
Ms Mugusu was admitted to the hospital after she suffered shock last week on learning the death of her children.
Her daughter, Ms Colletha Nchagwa, was also admitted at the same hospital after she suffered shock.
MORTUARY BILL
The Governor contacted Ms Mugusu after her case was highlighted in the media.
“I would like to thank Governor Sonko for his kindness. He has sent me 35,000 to help clear the bill. May God bless him abundantly, “said Ms Mugusu after being discharged from hospital.
Mr Sonko also pledged to provide four coffins for the deceased, clear the mortuary bill and provide four hearses for the funeral.
โI felt really sad when I heard of the unfortunate news of the demise of the four children. I have pledged to give Sh100, 000 for funeral expenses and provide hearse to carry the bodies,โ said Mr Sonko.
HOSPITAL
On Tuesday, officials of Equity Bank Migori branch also visited the family and donated Sh35, 000.
Mr Richard Chacha, the hospital director, said he has been receiving calls from well-wishers who have pledged to assist the family.
He said that the hospital will give the family the excess cash received from the well-wishers.
The woman lost four children after a lorry ferrying sand on Mabera-Motamorabu lost control and rammed into her house killing her four children, aged between three and 12, who were sleeping.
The driver of the lorry fled soon after the accident and is still at large.
