Immigration officials who appeared before a parliamentary committee early this month stated that cases of Chinese-Ugandan couples was on the rise.

The officials added that the unions were rising parallel to the increase of factories and retail shops selling imported Chinese goods.

“But we have many who are marrying and even producing… Even our Ugandan women are accepting to [reproduce] with these men,” an immigration official was quoted by Quartz Africa as saying.

There are between 10,000 and 50,000 Chinese nationals in Uganda.
