Government School Suspends Student for Supporting Jubilee Party

President Uhuru Kenyatta waves the Jubilee Party flag

Masinde Muliro University Studentsโ€™ Governing Council Secretary General David Kemboi Kipkosgei has sensationally claimed that his suspension from the school was as a result of his support for the Jubilee government.

Kemboi made the allegations after the Kakamega-based institution suspended him alongside 9 other students on accusations of inciting students to demonstrate, between October 3rd and 5th this year.

The students had paralysed learning after the administration made a controversial decision to increase school fees.

The student leader defended the strike indicating that it was driven by genuine concerns.

โ€œThe recent boycotting of classes by comrades was in good faith. The unreasonable fee increment has dealt many students a blow, especially those from very humble backgrounds. Yet when we sought justice through a peaceful demonstration, the administrators summoned the police,โ€ he complained.

Kemboi has admitted that he has plans to vie for a political seat in Uasin Gishu on a Jubilee ticket.

โ€œThe decision by the Masinde Muliro Universityโ€™s Senate to suspend me was malicious and unfounded. I believe it comes down to the fact that I am perceived to be a Jubilee supporter, and this is traditionally a CORD stronghold,โ€ he complained.

The school has however denied the claims, insisting that the decision was not final and would be reviewed by an independent body devoid of bias.
