Years ago I was a student in an Aviation School in california, I did
my ground learning and passed. It was time to learn to fly and I was
excited and nervous as I sat at the pilots seat in the Cessna 150. My
pilot instructor a retired US Airforce pilot told me to first and
foremost fasten my seat belt; which I did and then he asked me why I
think I can fly to which I answered: "Sir, Thats the answer every tree
in my old maasai village wants to know". He laughed understaningly and
then said; ‘FIRST I HAD TO CHECK ATTITUDE BEFORE ALTITUDE, Let’s see
what this bird can do"!
The Bible says;
but those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will
soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will
walk and not be faint. Isaiah 40:31
I doubt very highly that there was or is any old tree in my village
that didnt know my name or own a piece if my skin I think I climbed
them all as a little boy The scars on my legs show all the evidence;
A) They Will Renew (Faith)
There was always a curiosity as to what is up there and that gave me
all the energy to go find out
St Peters wasnt satisfied with the status quo in the boat Faith and
curiosity got him out of the boat on a stormy sea when he saw Jesus
walking on the water.
B)They Will Soar (Altitude)
Peters faith made him walk on water towards Jesus just like a young
eagle would take off from the safety of it nest towards a soaring mom
C)They Will Run and not grow weary. (Momentum)
Let not worry about outcome; That belongs to God, lets concentrate on
and relish the spiritual moment
D)They Will Walk and not be faint. (Resillience)
at his old age my fathers fovourites words were; "As a warrior I ran
the race now as an elder I walk but alwasy towards the goal of the
high calling"
My mother would say; "Manathe; (Manasseh) my Son, one of these days
you will find out that humans do not always run sometimes they walk"
:)
Concluding thought;
Philippians 3:14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the HIGH
CALLING of God in Christ Jesus.
Song;
Abide with me; fast falls the eventide;
The darkness deepens; Lord, with me abide;
When other helpers fail and comforts flee,
Help of the helpless, oh, abide with me.
I need Thy presence every passing hour;
What but Thy grace can foil the tempter’s pow’r?
Who, like Thyself, my guide and stay can be?
Through cloud and sunshine, Lord, abide with me.
Hold Thou Thy cross before my closing eyes;
Shine through the gloom and point me to the skies;
Heav’n’s morning breaks, and earth’s vain shadows flee;
In life, in death, O Lord, abide with me
Prayer;
Dear Lord as darkness covers the face of the earth help me to help
others to soar towards your brilliant light to that eternal daylight
