Thalia Ramirez, a Kenyan/Puerto-Rican, died on September 5, 2012, when her helicopter crashed in the Pul-e Alam district of Logar Province in Afghanistan.

An army pilot for the U.S. Army, Thalia Ramirez grew up in Kenya, attending Braeburn school.  She enlisted in the army soon after her arrival in the U. S. and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina.

Her tour of Afghanistan was almost over, and she was expected back in the U.S. from deployment this week. Although the Taliban has claimed responsibility for the crash, the U.S. Defense Department is still investigating the cause of the crash.

Rest in peace, Thalia and may the Lord be with your family and friends in this difficult
